TBS has given the go-ahead to “Angie Tribeca” (working title), a new police comedy starring Rashida Jones. Created by Steve and Nancy Carell, the show offers a satirical take on police procedurals.
Jones leads the cast as Angie Tribeca, alongside Jere Burns, Deon Cole, and Andree Vermeulen. The series focuses on an eccentric group of LAPD detectives investigating crimes while oversharing personal information.
Steve and Nancy Carell serve as executive producers through their Carousel Television, joined by Campbell Smith and Thom Hinkle. The Carells also penned the pilot, which Steve directed.
TBS has ordered 10 episodes, set to premiere in 2015. The single-camera comedy follows Tribeca, a lone wolf detective reluctantly paired with a new partner by her boss.
The pilot features guest appearances by Alfred Molina, Lisa Kudrow, Gary Cole, Nancy Carell, Hayes MacArthur, and Matthew Glave.
This new series adds to TBS’s growing lineup of original comedies, promising a fresh and humorous take on the police genre.
